Music festivals are here: get dressed up and go all out!
Please put your clothes back on, “dressing up” is not what you are thinking. Although it is true that things happen at music festival campsites, as long as your waist is not more worn out than the person who rides around at these types of events.
Well, with the arrival of the sun and the overdose of vitamin D, the summer festivals are upon us, and we, who are music lovers and who like to drink a very refreshing fruit to cope with the heat, were not going to miss the opportunity to tell you which are the most popular music festivals in Spain .
So, stay until the end, because we will also tell you what accessory to wear with your festival look to rock this year. (That sounds a bit boomer , but what are you waiting for, when for our waistline, the chotis is practically a pogo).
Primavera Sound
The Primaveras will meet from May 29 to June 2 in Barcelona to celebrate the twenty-second edition of Primavera Sound (the 22nd, in case you are from LOGSE).
The organizers have already announced that this year they will return to their origins in terms of the lineup, which includes international artists such as Lana del Rey, Pulp, Sza, Disclosure, Fka Twings and other groups with names we have never heard of in our lives.
As is tradition, Primavera Sound will take place in the Parc del Fórum , next to the sea, the safest place to gather thousands of people at night up to their necks. The neighbours of the nearby Mina neighbourhood will be the most affected by the noise, but being unofficial suppliers of the festival makes up for it.
Dream
Without leaving the city of Barcelona (in case you're a LOGSE member), June 13, 14 and 15 are the dates for Sónar , which takes place at the Fira de Montjuïc and the Fira Gran Vía . This music festival has been active since 1994, so this year it celebrates its thirty-first anniversary (do the math), coming back to destroy us... that is, to treat our ears to the best international electronic music.
Sónar is made up of a daytime festival (Montjuïc) and a nighttime festival (Gran Vía). We could put up the poster, but if we don't know the Primavera Sound poster, we can't even read the Sónar poster.
It is recommended to book accommodation in advance (the typical Airbnb in Barcelona at the libertarian price of €2500/week), as well as bring sleeping pills and pills to wake up, depending on your preference for the day or night festival.
Cruilla
We finish in Barcelona by talking about Cruïlla , a rather epilect…, sclero…, music festival that brings together various styles of music , from ska and hip-hop to electro and pop-rock.
The 2024 lineup includes Amaral, Avril Lavigne and Ladilla Rusa, among other GREAT ARTISTS, and will be held from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th July at the Parc del Fórum . So, if you go to Primavera Sound and you are someone without a job or benefit in this life, you won't even have to break camp if you want more.
Bilbao BBK Live
We now travel to Bilbao to talk about another of the top festivals on the peninsula, Bilbao BBK Live . An event so legendary that it is very likely that children, parents and even grandparents will all be there at this edition.
On July 11, 12 and 13 , Kobetamendi, the mountain that watches over the capital of Bizkaia, awaits you with music from bands like Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Arcade Fire or Los Planetas . All groups that it's cool to say you listen to, even if you only move your mouth during the concert, making up an English song from Lugo.
A festival in the mountains and it is not sponsored by Decathlon, a missed opportunity.
Arenal Sound
At the beginning of August, from July 30th to August 4th, Burriana (Castellón) becomes the capital of pachanguera, danceable and ultimately festival music, thanks to Arenal Sound . A festival that started out as an alternative and is now pure mainstream, the Pablo Iglesias of music.
Aitana, Morad, Lola Índigo, La Zowi, Yandel … Come on, if we go as audience members, they'll mistake us for secret agents or paedophiles. One of two. Or both. I also tell you, if the thing you care least about at festivals is the music, this is one of the best, ingredients like the beach or paella make it quite irresistible.
FIB
The festival named after the American federal police, which, along with Sónar, is one of the longest-running in the country. The FIB in Benicàssim has been the home of electronic music, indie and pop since 1995. From 18 to 20 July it will bring together a top-notch line-up, with Black Eyed Peas, The Libertines, Royal Blood and Arde Bogotá , among others. Good stuff (and off the bill, too).
Historically, it has received a multitude of awards that grant it the title of best European or world festival, the FIB is the Messi of large-scale music events. It has served as a showcase for numerous groups and continues to be an inspiration for other similar festivals that have grown in the wake of its success.
Rototom
The Castellón municipality of Benicàssim is once again hosting this festival, the Rototom Sunsplash . The locals must be delighted. If you think that the festival you went to smelled like joints, at Rototom, the nerve centre of reggae, you will be able to get high without lighting a lighter. The people at the toll booth at the exit closest to the festival are laughing to themselves and don't know what it's about.
From 16 to 21 August, it will bring together artists of the calibre of Alpha Blondy, The Wailers and Bad Manners . Jamaica invades the Levantine coast in an unrivalled atmosphere (and we're not even talking about marijuana, which is also a factor).
Reggaeton Beach Festival
“Put on the reggaeton festival, put on the reggaeton festival…” After so much insistence from the intern, we finally did as he said. It has nothing to do with the fact that in exchange he has brought us coffee from the bar across the street all week and we force him to give us his tuppers at midday. The kid likes perreo, so we talk about perreo. Anyway, at the end of the month he leaves.
But there's no joking around with the Reggaeton Beach Festival , which is a three-pronged event (although this could also be Sónar). On its website, not suitable for epileptics, it announces a festival that will be itinerant and will simultaneously tour different places in the country. Thus, between the months of June, July and August , you can enjoy artists such as Anuel AA, Tainy, María Becerra or Chufrel (we made this one up) in places like Madrid, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Mallorca or Málaga .
Give the finishing touch to your festival look
Do you already have your ticket for the festival? An excuse not to go to work on Friday or Monday? The little things that make you and the dogs of the Civil Guard happy? Well, all you have to do is wear an original festival look , because a dinosaur or zebra costume is more out of date than the Sónar crowd.
At Sliwils we offer you laces with different prints depending on the party you are going to have:
If you go to Primavera , get some flower laces . And don't worry, they are suitable for allergy sufferers.
If you like Sónar , then some good shiny laces , because we are talking about a very famous festival around the world .
At Cruïlla, there's nothing like wearing fancy laces . This is a festival of music and comedy.
For the BBK, bring out your wildest side with the animal print laces and enjoy, beast.
The new tie-dye shoelace collection couldn't have a better showcase than Arenal Sound . It fits like a glove, or rather, like a shoelace to the shoe.
At FIB, wear some bright colored laces so that your colleagues don't lose sight of you when you go to the bathroom, whenever you're doing a handstand.
You have to go to Rototom with some magnetic ethnic laces and long live the fusion.
For lovers of Reggaeton BF we recommend our laces with fruit prints : we have not created a collection for people with bad taste.
Whether in a tent at 40ºC in the shade or in a small hotel with air conditioning (we're getting older), choose your event, dress up in your most festival-like look and dance like there's no tomorrow... or until your knees hurt.
As the saying goes: “Four days of festival never hurt anyone.”
PS: Yes, we made it up, but it works, eh?
